What Is the Story About?
Seenu (Raj Tarun) is the perfect groom any father can hope for their daughter. Unfortunately, the ideal guy’s marriage gets cancelled at the last minute. What happens when Seenu finds out who is behind it? Who is Maha and how Seenu’s journey progresses with her is the movie’s core plot.
Performances?
Raj Tarun continues to be his usual self. Aha Na Pellanta is a bread and butter stuff for him done by him many times. He does it again here. Apart from the repetition, there is nothing to complain about on his side. He does the comedy in his typical style. There needs to be more on the emotional or romantic side, though. Eventually, it ends up as yet another routine fare for him with nothing new.
Shivani Rajasekhar looks perfect for a bossy girl character. The attitude comes naturally, or at least that’s how it appears. However, there is nothing in Aha Na Pellanta besides aggressiveness. She is flat, mainly in other emotions.
Analysis
Sanjeev Reddy directs Aha Na Pellanta. It is a routine romantic comedy with family elements thrown in equal measure. The only difference here is that it’s coming in a different medium and format.
The series takes a lot of time to get going. The first two episodes focus more on comedy via character and world-building, with very little on the story front. It takes off when the first twist (not so predictable) eventually arrives at the end of the second episode.
The narrative takes another predictable turn to bring the hero and heroine together. The lack of surprise is expected as the hope is on the writing and, therefore, the comedy to work. But that is not the case here.
The comedy is an extremely silly variety. Some punches can be seen miles away, but the actors who are used to them manage a few well. It is more due to their timing which is in tune with the silliness.
The entire track bringing the hero and heroine together has been written lazily. One emphasis is on it because it (the writing) is critical here, as there is no meat in the story. The situations and hero’s acts to unite the people are done to death and cliche.
The final stretch involving the realization of love is the poorest of all. It lacks consistency in setting besides the other apparent issues mentioned before. The entire airport ending with the shooting angle looks tacky. The emotions behind it, too, are as hackneyed as one can possibly imagine.
Overall, Aha Na Pellanta is a predictable rom-com from the start to the end. Since it is on OTT, some silly comedy may appear passable, but that’s it. If you don’t mind the utter routineness, give it a try or stay away.
Other Artists?
The series’ casting is decent, consisting of a mixture of known and relatively unknown faces. Harshavardhan and Aamani stand out easily with their effortless charm, fun and sentiment, even though they do absolutely nothing new. The same is true for Posani Krishna Murali, seen after a gap, but he tends to go overboard in his typical style.
There are many current comic sidekicks in small parts. Ravi Siva Teja and Trishool Jeethuri are okay as hero’s buddies and partners in crime. Getup Srinu and Rajkumar Kasireddy have simple roles but are neatly done to stand out in the crowd. Bhadram appears briefly and is alright. Madhunandan is wasted, whereas the rest in bits and pieces roles are forgettable.
Music And Other Departments?
Judah Sandhy’s music is also on expected lines similar to the subject. Nothing stands out as everything has a heard-before quality. It’s also why one instantly forgets if there ever are any songs in the narrative. Pavan’s background score, too, is below par. Nagesh Bannell and Ashkar Ali’s cinematography is alright. Barring a few parts, the visuals look fine for an OTT production. Madhu Reddy’s editing could have been better. The writing mainly comprises silly puns, which seems to be the intended effect. The rest are ordinary.
